Back on the Salt

Headed out to the sound this afternoon with my old little league team mate Derrick. We started looking for bass and blues right off and found a few, but the tide was dieing out and so did the bite just as we got out there. No worries, we switched to Porgies, and they didn't disappoint!
We landed in the neighborhood of 40 or so, and took 18 home to eat. In the mix we casted to busting bluefish a couple of times and scored a couple of them too! Derrick told me he wanted to catch a black sea bass, and wouldn't you know, he came up with one!!

Lots of open dates, once this hurricane blows though the fishing should continue to be awesome!!! Give me a call to book 860.918.2338

New Spot, Day 2

Chris and I went back to the same "new" water we found last night. We caught lots of small fish, mostly smallmouths up to about 12", a handful of pickerel and yellow perch. Saw some bigger bass but in such little water they difficult to get to eat, its tough to be stealthy under those conditions!
I'll be back on the salt this week, looks like some great weather coming and I have a couple of open days, give me a call!

New Spot smallies

Today Christian and I spent some time looking at new water. Although this area looked great on the maps, you never really know until you get somewhere new what you will find. This spot was AWESOME! Every bend in the river seemed to have something appealing, deep holes, sunken trees, boulders, undercut banks, tons of places for big fish to hide. We spent more time looking around than fishing, but the little fishing we did proved our thoughts of it being a great fishery. We will be back very soon!
With the big bluefish tournament going on this weekend I am regrettably staying away from the salt. But, plenty of open dates to get out there with me, This time of year can be spectacular, especially for beginning flyrodders, endless opportunity to catch plenty of fish on the salt with both blues and bass taking many offerings, plus you never know when bonito might show themselves, and of course albies are on the horizon!
